Welcome Our New Faculty!

We are so fortunate to have so many wonderful people joining our faculty this school year. Take a minute to get to know them, and be sure to say hello if you see them around school!

Kate Kelley, Enrollment Director

Kate Kelley joined CWS in 2016 as a NatureTots parent and has been with the school ever since. She now has two sons at the school. Kate previously managed a bookstore for 20 years, and she loves to collect pop-up books.

Kate graduated from Xavier University and majored in English with a minor in Environmental Studies. She enjoys swimming, gardening, and listening to music with her kids.

Kate has loved her Waldorf experience and is so excited to share her passion for Waldorf education with new families as the CWS Enrollment Director.

Margot Amrine, High School Humanities

Margot Amrine has been a Waldorf teacher since 1978, beginning her career at the Waldorf School in Belmont, Massachusetts (now Lexington). She has been fortunate to teach kindergarten, as a class teacher with four wonderful classes, and in the High School at the Rudolf Steiner School of Ann Arbor. A native of Toledo, she actually began her teaching career there, as a substitute in the public schools, in 1975. She was grateful to discover Waldorf Education not long after.

Margot has been educated by her many students, her incredible family, travels, museums, and The University of Michigan. She’s thrilled to accept an invitation to teach at the Cincinnati Waldorf School this year!

Elizabeth Germano, High School Counselor

Ms. Germano is excited to be starting her third year as the CWS high school counselor. As a school counselor, she helps students with their emotional, social, and academic development. She's also part of the college application/post secondary planning process.

"What I love most about my time here at Waldorf is the community and seeing students grow! I am at Waldorf once a week, on Fridays. In my free time, I enjoy fitness, reading, and spending time with my family and pets."

Stacy Gaston, Grades Assistant

Stacy joined CWS as a parent in 2022. As of the 2024/25 school-year, all three of her children will be enrolled in the school.

Stacy graduated from Portland State University with a BS in Health Science. She has completed Waldorf Foundation Studies and is currently in her second year at Antioch University's Waldorf Teacher Training Program.

Stacy home-schooled for five years as a part of a Waldorf teaching co-op. During that time, she fell in love with how a Waldorf education strives to meet every child where they are, and how individualized the education is for each child. Her family's love for nature and the outdoors made it easy to form a deep connection with Waldorf education. She is excited to continue her journey with CWS as a Grades Assistant!

Sarah Miller, Assistant Teacher

Sara Miller is a Cincinnati native living in Blue Ash with her husband and two retired racing greyhounds, Richard and Minnie.

Sara has worked for more than a decade in the field of early childhood education across the city as a teacher, social worker, parenting coach, and professor! She has earned a Bachelor's degree in Child Development from Miami University, a Master's degree in Educational Studies from the University of Cincinnati, and is currently a part-time student at UC working toward a Doctorate in Education.

Outside of the classroom, she likes to hike, camp, sing, garden, watch classic movies, and hula hoop!

Kenny Havens, After Care & Grades Assistant

Mr. Havens has a background in social work. He homeschooled his children and taught in their homeschool co-op. This is his family's fifth year as a Waldorf family. Two of his children are currently enrolled and one who graduated from the Cincinnati Waldorf High School is now also employed at CWS!

"I love the holistic approach Waldorf education takes toward each individual's learning and growth. In my work in After Care, I am looking forward to seeing the wonder and awe that young children embody, and to shepherding these students through their day. I find it so hopeful and inspiring to be around kids!"

In his free time, Mr. Havens enjoys playing Banjo and ukulele, singing, walking his dogs, and spending time with his family.

Josie Havens, After Care Assistant

Ms. Josie graduated from CWHS in 2022. The warm, safe, and inviting atmosphere is what initially drew her to the school. She enjoys reading, painting, and baking in her free time.

"I love this school, and I am excited to see how I will continue to grow and evolve as a person in this setting."

Chloe Rain Barkey, Rose Blossom Kindergarten Assistant

Ms. Chloe is joining CWS this year as she completes her BFA in Creative Writing from the Art Academy of Cincinnati. She enjoys reading, bird watching, and long wandering walks.

“I found the Cincinnati Waldorf School by happenstance, after deciding I was ready to begin a teaching career. I was immediately drawn into the calm, dreamy atmosphere and the dedication to spiritual and artistic development for the children and the faculty.”

Emily Chapin, Oak Tree Kindergarten Assistant

Ms. Emily joined CWS in 2023 and graduated in 2024 with her Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts. Waldorf education was woven into her life starting from a very young age, and it has become a blossoming passion throughout her life. She enjoys painting, illustrating, photography, and long walks.

Ali Ascough, Woodland Preschool Assistant

Miss Ali has worked independently with children on and off for the last ten years. She enjoys hiking, gardening, and baking in her spare time. Ali is very excited to start her journey in the Waldorf community and looks forward to learning about the community from her peers.

Elizabeth Stratman, Intervention Specialist

Ms. Stratman has a Bachelor's in Elementary Education from UC and a Master's Degree in Special Education from Xavier University. This is her 7th year as an Intervention Specialist for Hamilton County Educational Service Center and her 20th year of teaching.

"My true calling is caring for others. I have a passion for science, nature and animals. I try to find beauty around me every day. I love to garden and am working on making my yard into a certified wildlife habitat through National Wildlife Federation. I look forward to helping the students in any way I can on their learning journey. I'm so excited to be here!"
