Highlights from the Week:

The 7th Grade began wet felting last week! In this project, students wet felt around a flat plastic resist and then cut it open to create a bowl. How amazing is that?!

Have you seen our new Waldorf Wolf in the front hall? This beloved CWS mascot was designed and is being painted by our own CWS Alum, Ruthie Arthur!!! 💜

The Fourth Graders are having so much learning to play strings! In Waldorf schools, all students select and begin learning to play a string instrument in fourth grade.

Ms. Gerhardt's Sixth grade class is in their Geometry block and have been learning how to use a compass.  Here, one of the sixth graders is working very hard on his main lesson book, filling a page with circles perfectly divided into six parts.

Oak Tree Kindergarten had such a sweet time doing watercolor painting.

The Seniors and our faculty chaperones hit the road for Maine! They'll spend a week studying Marine Biology with other Waldorf seniors on Hermit Island.

The canoeing trip was canceled due to low water levels, so Fourth-Sixth Grade enjoyed some time playing in the river and climbing in a nearby bamboo forest!

Please Support the CWS Annual Fund Drive 💜

Letters and flyers went out in backpacks this week inviting all CWS families to participate in this year's Annual Fund Drive. This fundraising effort is critical to the health and well-being of our school, so please show your love for CWS by participating at a level that is meaningful for you.

Didn't see anything come home? Check out our Annual Fund packet here.

Ready to make your family's Annual Fund gift? Donate now!

Ready to sign up for this year's Snap!Raise fundraiser? Get set up now!

This year, our Annual Fund competition will reward the first class to reach 100% participation in our Snap!Raise fundraiser. (Participation means creating a profile and uploading at least one email.) This fundraiser kicks off September 16th and runs until October 14th!

The prize for the grades and high school will be the coveted Pizza and Games Night with Mr. Thomas. 🍕 And new this year ... we have a sweet, special prize in the works for our Preschool and Kindergarten families, should one of those classes emerge as the victor! This way everyone can get in on the fun!

Please direct any questions to bmcdaniel@cinciwaldorf.org. Thank you for your support!

Join us in the new Community Room!

Kicking off this meet up season, we will be learning to crochet a simple flower form. Supplies and support available for exploration. Join us in developing crafts for the Holiday Faire Angel Room!

Join Us for Michaelmas Friday, September 27th

We welcome our community to attend our Michaelmas celebration for the Grades (1-12) on the afternoon of Friday, September 27th from 1-3pm. This celebration includes our beloved Michaelmas play, performed by Grades 2 & 4, as well as other class sharings.

Families are also invited to stay and partake of our Michaelmas feast, which will include dragon bread and honey butter, apples, and veggies. The specific timing and logistics for this event will be shared soon! A head's up that we will be asking the community for contributions of dragon bread and baked bread loaves for our feast. If you love to bake or have a favorite bakery, be on the lookout for that sign-up!

Not sure what Michaelmas is? Check out this blog post, which explains more.

Want to learn our school's Michaelmas songs? The CWS Community Singers have recorded many favorites here. Singing along with your kiddos in the car or at home can be super fun!

Consider Hosting a Sign-Up Party for CWS!

Sign-Up Parties are a great way to raise funds — and build community — for the benefit of our school! Sign-Up Parties are also a great way to make friends and have FUN! Favorite sign-up parties in past years include:

  • Paint & Sip Party (Adults Only)

  • Fishing Party (Family Friendly)

  • Medicinal/Edible Plant Walk (Family Friendly)

  • Sourdough Bread Making (Adults Only)

  • Kids Crafts (Origami, Silk dyeing)

Sign-Up Parties are hosted by CWS Faculty, Families, and Friends, and participants pay to participate based on the activity. This is how we raise funds and community!

We are currently gathering Sign-Up Parties to offer at Fall Fest. If you're interested in hosting something, please email Laura Goldwire at lgoldwire@cinciwaldorf.org.

Save the Date for Fall Fest @ OTR Stillhouse!

Watch Ms. Harwood's Back-to-School Address

On Back-to-School Night, Ms. Caroline Harwood (Lead Teacher and College Co-Chair) shared some observations about the current state of Waldorf education and what makes her excited to be a Waldorf teacher in this moment.

The CWS Magic Meadow Store Is Open!

New this year! We have a small pop-up school store in the front entry, featuring CWS t-shirts, tote bags, beeswax strips and crayons, colored pencils, and other fun swag. You can pay by credit card or Apple Pay using the QR code in the main office or by cash/check.

Get Your CWS Calendar!

You do not want to miss this beautiful wall calendar featuring art by CWS students in Grades 1-12! This stunning calendar takes you on a journey through the grades and our Waldorf curriculum. It also includes basic dates for this school year — first day, last day, parent teacher conferences, open houses, breaks, festivals, and more!

This calendar is being offered at accessible price points so that all families can have one to enjoy, but you can also use your purchase to support CWS fundraising efforts. CWS calendars can be picked up in the office or sent home with your student.

Join Us for Community Singing on Friday Mornings!

Families and friends of CWS students are invited to join choral music teacher Adam Petersen on Friday mornings from 8:30 to 9:15 AM in the new community room for Community Singing! This is a wonderful opportunity to cultivate our community, to make new connections, and to share in the songs of our school's festivals and our students' curriculum. No musical experience is necessary.

Our first meeting will be Friday, August 30. The community room is just beyond the office at the front of the school. Little ones are welcome, with space to roam and play.

If you'd like to get a jump start on learning songs - or just enjoy singing these songs with your your family - check out our CWS Community Singing recordings here.

Don't Forget Your Labels, Mabel!

Mabel's Labels are a great way to keep track of all your child's things — from clothes and shoes to water bottles and lunch boxes. And best of all, when you order your labels, your purchase supports the CWS Parent Association. It's a win-win!

Did You Get a 2023-24 School Yearbook?

Last year's yearbook is absolutely incredible, and it's not too late to order one for your student/s! We promise, you'll be glad you did.
