Welcome Back 8th Grade! The 8th grade returned from their week-long adventure to the Southern Appalachian mountains of North Carolina where they learned skills like fire-making, plant foraging and identification, primitive pottery making, and so so much more! (Look for a blog post about this trip coming soon!)

Here's a little glimpse from the seniors' trip to Maine — tide pooling! Be sure to welcome them back and ask about their trip when you see them around next week :)

Here's Ms. Schewe's 5th Grade class's rousing finale of "Yonder Come Day," a CWS favorite!

The high schoolers are doing jaw-dropping work in Ms. Manship's drawing class as they study the work of Renaissance masters 🤩

Front Office Twins! Aren't they SO cute 💕

Please Support the CWS Annual Fund Drive 💜

The prize for the grades and high school will be the coveted Pizza and Games Night with Mr. Thomas. 🍕 And new this year ... we have a sweet, special prize in the works for our Preschool and Kindergarten families, should one of those classes emerge as the victor! Join us in the new Community Room!

Join Us for Michaelmas Friday, September 27th at 1pm!

We welcome our community to attend our Michaelmas celebration for the Grades (1-12) on the afternoon of Friday, September 27th from 1-3pm. This celebration includes our beloved Michaelmas play, performed by Grades 2 & 4, as well as other class sharings.

Our Michaelmas play and sharings will begin promptly at 1:15, so please arrive a few minutes in advance to get settled. The performances will take place in the Bowl (grassy area next to the school). Please bring your own chairs or blanket. Grandparents and other close friends or family members are welcome to attend.

Guests are also invited to stay and partake of our Michaelmas feast, which will include dragon bread and honey butter, apples, and veggies.

Not sure what Michaelmas is? Check out this blog post, which explains more.

Want to learn our school's Michaelmas songs? The CWS Community Singers have recorded many favorites here. Singing along with your kiddos in the car or at home can be super fun!

ATTN: Sign Up to Bring Bread for Our Michaelmas Feast!

Do you love to bake bread or have a favorite bakery? Consider signing up to bring bread for our Michaelmas feast! Bread - including bread shaped like the head of a dragon - is central to our celebration. Thank you in advance for your offerings!

Consider Hosting a Sign-Up Party for CWS!

Sign-Up Parties are a great way to raise funds — and build community — for the benefit of our school! Sign-Up Parties are also a great way to make friends and have FUN! Favorite sign-up parties in past years include:

  • Paint & Sip Party (Adults Only)

  • Fishing Party (Family Friendly)

  • Medicinal/Edible Plant Walk (Family Friendly)

  • Sourdough Bread Making (Adults Only)

  • Kids Crafts (Origami, Silk dyeing)

Sign-Up Parties are hosted by CWS Faculty, Families, and Friends, and participants pay to participate based on the activity. This is how we raise funds and community!

We are currently gathering Sign-Up Parties to offer at Fall Fest. If you're interested in hosting something, please email Laura Goldwire at lgoldwire@cinciwaldorf.org.

Waldorf Alum & Former CWS Faculty Member Opens Storefront in Madisonville!

Some of you may remember Myles Zernik-Traxler, an alum of the San Francisco Waldorf School, who also served on our CWS Admin Team for several years. Myles recently started her own online business and now has a storefront on Plainville Road in Madisonville, just across from UDF.

Her brand, Hello Clio, made a splash across social media after Myles designed her Original Kindle Belt Bag. She has since designed a Kindle-friendly backpack and several other clever products. Her Madisonville store displays and sells all her merchandise, including fun t-shirts, hats, pins, stickers, and other great gifts for those who love to read! Her store is open 10-2 on Tuesdays and Thursdays or by appointment which can be booked at her website: www.shoptheclio.com.

Stop in and say hi to Myles and see how another Waldorf graduate has made their mark on the business world! 🙌
