FacultyThe Cincinnati Waldorf School’s faculty is a diverse, educated group of people dedicated to providing a rich, Waldorf experience in the classroom. CWS experiences very high retention within our faculty and we are proud of the men and women educating our children. The class teacher oversees the main lesson, while special subject teachers instruct in their areas of expertise. Class teachers and specialty teachers talk regularly to ensure an integrated approach as well as keeping track of the experience and growth of each student. The Class TeachersWaldorf education recognizes that the second seven years of a child's life requires a relationship to someone who has their confidence and gives continuity to their lives - an authority with whom the children can build a base of trust and respect. In addition to the value of providing a stable teacher-child relationship, less time is spent adjusting to a new classroom situation each year. The class teacher, therefore, accompanies the same class of children through the elementary years, teaching all the main subjects. For the teacher, this allows time to know the children more deeply and help them develop academically and as individuals. With this continuity students also form wonderful bonds with their classmates, allowing for a significant social education. The classroom becomes a microcosm of the larger macrocosm of society.

The Special Subject TeachersSpecial Subject teachers bring their gifts in the areas of foreign language, Eurythmy (rhythmic movement), games (physical education), music, the arts, educational support, and an array of crafts and practical arts. Special Subject teachers are chosen not only for their expertise in specific areas, but also for their ability to relate to the students and serve as adult role models. They serve with the class teachers to build the learning community for the students.
